Icebreaker by Hannah Grace

4.0

I have seen this book all over tiktok for months and have avoided it like the plague. A romance that involves sport? I can't even run for the train without having to pretend I'm not on my last breath when I reach the platform. No thank you. Not to mention the reviews being so split between "I LOVE IT" and "it would be better if every character died on page 1".

After stubbornly fighting the FOMO that was building up inside of me I decided to bite the bullet and give it a go.

My thoughts? I never knew I could genuinely enjoy a hockey romance, but this book had me researching where the nearest ice skating rinks were in the middle of summer in Australia. It's wholesome, fluffy and light hearted while also having a little bit of spice.

Is the book perfect? Absolutely not. It's not exactly a literary masterpiece, but it's a fun read. I found it a little slow at times and there was quite a bit of filler what seemed super unnecessary to the story. Also so so many side characters which I immediately forgot the names of upon finishing the book.

You may like this book if you like cheesy hallmark movies, forced proximity and a light read with not a whole lot of plot.
