Green Is a Chile Pepper: A Book of Colors by Roseanne Greenfield Thong

4.0

The flat, folk-art style paintings (on wood, it looks like) and the rich colors are well-suited to this concept book. Each color is identified in English and Spanish, and the text is peppered with Spanish vocabulary - most can be guessed from context, but there's also a glossary in the back. The same characters reappear, but there's no real story here. Instead, the star is those charming, vibrant illustrations. The text names a few items in each color, but there are more for the reader to spot and identify.
