Ok, so this fills in some gaps between 8 and 9 - Valerie's pregnancy - and introduces Diesel, but it felt a bit odd in patches having the supernatural intrude on Steph's life in Trenton. Whether that would have been different if I hadn't already read the other Diesel books, I don't know. I still liked it, and it's still fun, but it's a bit.. strange.
