My grandparents lived in New Mexico while I was growing up and travelling through NM, we would often pass Almogordo and I would hear that it was to location of the testing of the atomic bomb. I had never learned that there were other sites involved in the production. I learned so much and found much of it very interesting. I did however listen to it on audio and for me, that was not the better way. I found it hard to keep track of the women and who was who (I do that better visually). I enjoyed it enough that I would be tempted to do a reread but using a print or digital book (but I probably wouldn't ever get around to it.)
