Wisdom of Insecurity: A Message for an Age of Anxiety
by Alan Watts
Always loved hearing Alan Watts yap about things. There is so many clips out there on the internet that I knew a little bit about Watts before reading this book. Being where I am in my life meant that a lot of the concepts and ideas in this book were already familiar to me to some extent.
I really liked what he was trying to say and I also really enjoyed some of his analogies.
The book is basically an essay even thought I haven't specifically seen that being mentioned anywhere when descriptions of the book pop up. I actually reminded me of The Myth of Sisyphus by Camus.
The way it was written, the referencing and the arguing about religion and philosophy effectively, made me think of that one other essay I have read :)
I did actually love all the various references to other texts that I could then look up to learn something new or to at least have heard of it. All in all, Alan Watts is a pretty chill and smart dude.
