The Tangle by Justin Robertson
1.0
Nooo. I love folk horror and nature horror, but this was so convoluted, dense, and ultimately unfocused. It was made up of semi-connected stories that all involve nature and a specific location to some degree, and I think possibly it would have worked better as two or three short stories. As a novel, it was messy. Perhaps this was intentional - a 'tangle' of stories and language that evokes more than it explains? It could be, but it wasn't for me. It ended up feeling a little masturbatory, a little too proud of its own wit. And there were way too many typos.
