Re-read this series since it was my 1 year marriage anniversary last month & the movie adaptation is what my husband and I watched on our first ever date.

Love it as always. I forgot how much more details there was in the manga.
I used to not like the film club section of it, but upon re-read, it was cute.

I'll never forget my hatred of Ueno & Miki though. I genuinely detest that they didn't receive even more justice handed down to them.
That alone is the only reason I mentally classify this as a 'gold favourite' and not 'platinum favourite'.
The characters overall have many layers and flaws so it's interesting to try to form completely positive opinions on them. It seems like it shows true human nature than entirely likeable friendship groups.

That being said, if Shoya went on this amazing journey of redemption and I kept counting the seconds to see his beautiful scenes with Shoko, than I think some of the other cast's journeys could've been slightly more compelling for me to forgive them for their horrible deeds or just being plain irritating. Otherwise just write them off for severe justice, please.

Regardless... a beautiful, melancholy yet hopeful story. I did cry. But surprisingly not where I thought I would, this time (..Shoko's mum, oh my god... -Also another well-written complex character).
