Seaside Stranger Vol. 1: Umibe No Étranger by Kanna Kii
3.0
After being disowned for being gay and ruining his arranged marriage, Shun has been living with his aunt on a small island near Okinawa. One day, he spots Mio sitting by the sea staring into the water and becomes enamored. He soon meets him and learns He is recently orphaned. The two young men begin to open up to each other until Mio reveals that he's leaving. Three years later, an adult Mio returns to the island to confess his true feelings, but is Shun ready for a relationship after so long has passed?
I have mixed feelings about this book. The art is gorgeous, and while reading it I felt that I'd been sintered to the island with the way the textures and lighting were transmitted on paper.
The relationship between the two characters is sweet and fluffy, but at times it's hard to understand their dynamic. Mio leaves for three years and suddenly comes back expecting to pick up from where they left off, and Shun is so reluctant to involve Mio in a There isn't a big overarching plot in the story beyond their relationship finding it's groove.
It's a beautiful book and I'm hoping when I watch the anime adaptation I can get a better grasp on my feelings
