Ladykiller by Katherine Wood

medium-paced

2.0

This was… not good. It felt like if gone girl, tinder swindler, and verity had a threeway but they were siblings and the baby came out deformed.

The beginning is sloooowwwwwwww. Of the first 100 pages about 70 of them were descriptions of Greece. (I think we were in Greece. I’m gonna be honest I’m not sure bc I was skimming so heavily) I almost packed it in but there was just enough of the mystery dangling for me to stick around.

Around 50% things start picking up and I finally felt like I could stop skimming so heavily bc I didn’t want to miss little details.

The excitement was sadly short lived. The synopsis is so misleading. Gia is only missing for maybe 4 pages? The memoir is introduced entirely too soon. If the book was structured differently I think it would have played out way better.

The ending is also just a complete dud. And I’m someone who LOVES an open end. This is not that. This is like the author didn’t know how to tie it all together and was like welp that’s all folks *looney tunes soundtrack plays* and called it a day.

Whomp whomp waaaahhhhhhh
