While the premise makes for a solid WWII read, it didn't hit the mark for me. I loved the idea of the library bringing the community together, but this didn't portray that or feel connected. Character's felt flat and I did not feel that connected to any of them. The middle was a bit slow and I think it could have been stronger and shorter. I know so many historical fiction lovers and/or those who enjoy books about books would be drawn to this one, but there are better ones out there.
