Sweet Temptation by Wendy Higgins

5.0

I literally just finished this book. I must take a moment....

This book is everything you would expect from companion of The Sweet Trilogy and more. I love the fact that this book is more mature that the previous installments of the series. It was refreshing to see the dark side of this world. Before we got to see this version of reality with a veil of innocence and cluelessness. Now, through Kaidan's eyes, we can see how this things Nephilims were obligated to do affected who they were.

Kaidan was such a complex character before but now I feel like I understand his reasons behind some reactions that before left me baffled. I like how he goes from doubt, intrigue, and self-loathing to love and understanding. I love how even as he turned into a better version of himself, he did not lose his essence. Also, I loved how we can get to see him falling in love with Anna (who did not have much participation physically, but was always there through Kaidan's thoughts. Actually, none of the other characters had much participation, but since this is focused on Kaidan's perspective of a story we already know, I do not see this as a mayor flaw).

We get a lot more insight in how the sins work and how they affect the crew, and we even get to know more about Lascivious, Kaidan's band.

Overall, it was a really good book and I think a must-read for every fan of the original trilogy. Great job, Ms. Higgins.
