This is not a book one "reviews" in any traditional sense, though there is plenty of 'literary' value to comment upon.  Rather, I will quickly (and not, ironically, simply) say here that a work I have long desired to read and simultaneously avoided (due in no small part to a branch of its evangelism) is one of wonder and reflective sense.

Even if we as readers ultimately find its larger cosmological discussions off-putting or alienating, there are few grounds remaining us to argue against its character development, its practicum for behavior and compassion, its paths to joy.

More, when paired with a guide in the reading (written or better, in person), we discover the richness of its broader contexts spiritually and the limits of our ability to translate these. The greater wisdom here is not found in the English, and we would do well to study this broader tradition to fully appreciate the power of this long-enduring work.
