Water's Wrath by Elise Kova
2.0

Although I have been enjoying Elise Kova's Air Awakens series, I have to say that Water's Wrath disappoints in multiple areas.

1) Despite all of the other books that take place this one having the events of the last book connect directly to the ones of the next, i.e., the ending of [b:Fire Falling|26047438|Fire Falling (Air Awakens, #2)|Elise Kova|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1440388938l/26047438._SY75_.jpg|45977131] was pretty much the beginning of [b:Earth's End|26760091|Earth's End (Air Awakens, #3)|Elise Kova|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1447570143l/26760091._SX50_.jpg|46785371], this one did not have that. I was left confused and wanting of the connection that the previous installments have.

2) This book has the terrible YA trope of the heroine loses her powers for no other reason than to satisfy the plot. She goes from finally mastering her powers and learning more about them, only to lose them because some little crystals? Vhalla also somehow is foolish enough to not realize that the guy she loves is not actually the guy that she ventures to the Crystal Caverns with. I mean, if she really loved him, then would she not be able to tell that he was not truly Aldrik?

3) This book feels more like a filler than anything. Yes, [b:Earth's End|26760091|Earth's End (Air Awakens, #3)|Elise Kova|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1447570143l/26760091._SX50_.jpg|46785371] also felt like that, but I was expecting a filler book somewhere. Most decent series have at least one filler book, if not two. However, the difference between those books and this one is that this one had them one after the other. I probably could've just read the last 10 chapters or so and still understood what was going on.

2.5/5 stars.
