simplymeganrae 's review for:
The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King
by Carissa Broadbent
This was a re-read to prepare for the newest book, and I enjoyed it more this time around.
Experiencing Oraya find her strength and her love, while also grappling with her complicated relationship with her father, was such a ride. I appreciated the back and forth of her feelings about her father because what adult child doesn't have a complicated relationship with their parent!?
Is it slightly ridiculous that she stayed with Raihn after watching him kill her father, though? Absolutely. That part of the plot is wild.
I will read anything and everything Carissa writes. Loved the themes of power and love and vulnerability and safety.
