by Antony John
The story picks up right where Elemental left off and again ends on a cliffhanger. The threat of contracting plague from rats takes center stage in this book, and the elements play a slightly lesser role. I admire how Antony John can write stories that are fast-paced without sacrificing character development. I also thought he effectively depicted the subtle threat always in the air in the seemingly peaceful colony that Thomas and co. join for awhile. I think Alice is still my favorite character.
