The Inferno
by Dante Alighieri
adventurous
dark
reflective
medium-paced
I read this in anticipation of RF Kuang's Katabasis and I really enjoyed it. Plus people just need to read more classics (and less self-help). It was also a good detour into poetry where I don't typically venture (I'm reading Ciardi's translation), plus some of its theological musings (like how the damned might appear) were really interesting. I will definitely move on to Purgatorio and Paradiso (and Katabasis).
