A Breathtaking YA book. Literally I was hooked after the first chapter.
Three words for books
Adventurous, Action-packed, Addictive.
For one I have never ever read a dystopian book. But when I was asked to review this I went in blind and I am not disappointed.
Liz (The author) has set the story of a young girl named Bird in post-apocalyptic place where climate change has made human life difficult. Bird is a lovely character who is flawed and has her charming way to do what she wants. She might not be a thinker person but she indeed goes for what her gut tells her.
Due to some issues Bird ends up on the wrong side of a terrorist organization. While she hides away from danger she unknowingly puts Sargos life in danger as well. But they both set out on a journey which will change their views on things the governing body has put in the or minds. Hunted by a group known as the anonymity, kidnapped by pirates and oh yeah betrayed by her own brother who wants to use her voice and life experience.
I love how Bird and Sargo have this friendship which is beautiful and I am genuinely shocked by how painfully obvious it is as a reader that they both want it to be more but refuse to say anything. I knew it was a slow burn and I completely loved it.
Liz has done an incredible job writing this piece of art. As a reader I feel like the author has the key to grabbing the readers attention keep them hooked without trying to hard on words and terminology. The terms that are used are of course mostly related to sailing, the detail and world building is spot on. At no point did I think 'uh what's happening here'
I'm giving this 4 stars because it was my first dystopian book, (also because I was sucker punched by the little plot twist near the end). I don't have anything against the author she did an Ah-Ma-Zing job writing this I would strongly recommend Salt
