This was my introduction into Rebecca Kuang's work. I have to say I really enjoyed this book.

The main character June was so unlikable but it kept me going. I wanted to know how much more ridiculous and unbelievable things that she was going to do next. The way she would justify everything she did had me yelling at this book. Also, loved the parts where social media is shown and how terrifying it can be concering cancel culture (its rare someone gets "canceled" completely) and the ease to which people send threats to others.

A glimpse into the publishing world which I had known nothing of, the hurdles POC authors are force to face. Rebecca's writing really kept me engaged. I believe this would be my first 5 star rating of the year.

Looking forward to reading more from her. Poppy Wars, next? I will leave Babel for last tho because that looks like a beast.
