The sole reason I wanted to read this book is because I'm such a fan of Hank Green, and yet I kept picking this book up and putting it back down again. I'm not gonna lie, I didn't like this book while I was reading it. It took until page 200 that I really got into it, when the action picked up. Overall, I liked the commentary on self implosion and how abnormal fame is--especially internet fame. April really pissed me off at some points because of her selfishness and addiction to fame and how she let all her relationships fall apart. I didn't like the writing style at some parts, like how April was aware that she was writing the book and at times I thought it was Hank doing the showing and not telling. I dunno, I grapple with wanting to love this book but being disappointed. I did laugh out loud at the Carly Rae Jepsen part. I love that Hank loves and appreciates the pop icon that Carly Rae is. This all being said, I'll probably read the sequel to find out what the characters uncover about alien life.
