This book was such a drag, I’m disappointed. It had a lot of potential from reading the blurb and I thought it would be right up my street but it just fell so flat. I honestly didn’t feel interested until page 280 which is crazy that I even still stuck with it.
I found Rose to be a very frustrating character. There was so much repetition about what she’d been through, which I understand, but it was drawn out for too long and it felt like a carrot was constantly being dangled then ripped away. A piece of information would be dropped and then it wouldn’t be acknowledged again for ages and this was annoying.
It was interesting enough that I continued reading it, but I didn’t enjoy it much. There was quite a few POV’s which I didn’t mind as it broke up the book a bit which was good and it was intriguing to see the story from other characters. Sometimes I really struggled to see the relevance of certain characters or their plots, it felt like a lot of filler to drag out the story.
I didn’t particularly warm to any of the characters and by the time I reached the plot twist I wasn’t really interested anymore. The way it really was just all about money and then she fell in love with him… it was a bit boring. I also don’t really understand much about stocks and shares so I don’t fully know how Luke got all their money, but that’s a me problem.
Anyway, I just found this to be dull and boring and dragged for no good reason. Waiting until the final third of a book for it to get good is criminal. Not sure I’ll be rushing to read another Jo Spain book.
