Me: Elton John Official Autobiography
by Elton John
I won this book in a giveaway. The story itself was good. I especially liked the relationship depicted between Alex and Moe-- it reminded me a lot of my relationship with my Nanny before she passed away-- she was a hot ticket too! I have also lost someone close to a car accident (my brother) and could relate to the story on that level as well. That being said, I almost didn't finish reading it. There were so many typos, errors of sentence structure, commas were they didn't belong-- the English teacher in me was cringing. Most of the words that should have been compound words (lady like, bee lined, switch board, back handed) were written as two separate words. Sentences had commas that didn't make sense (Jack, had always been the voice of reason, through this whole nutcracker of chaos, but I had learned from life, that logic just can’t explain everything that happens to us.) Often a word was used that didn't make sense or was the wrong word (seen unfold instead of scene unfold, A & W Root Bear, err of cynicism instead of air of cynicism). The worst was Aubrey Hepburn, the Philis ball team, and Kelly Clarkston. I don't mean to nitpick, since everyone makes mistakes while writing. There were just so many. The author is considering a sequel, and I think that this story is perfect for that. I would love to find out more about Alex's journey. I just hope she gets a better editor because Alex, Grandpa, Moe, Charley, and Scout deserve better.
