Cop Out by K.C. Burn
5.0
Another one of those gems deeply buried in my tbr until unearthed for a Goodreads challenge. I truly enjoyed this. Had some difficulty with Kurt at first but his struggle with his sexuality seemed real and fraught with confusion. Some of his words and thoughts were so stereotypical but when you think about his upbringing - an Irish Catholic family with 6 or 7 (lost count!) siblings - his thinking makes sense. Great writing. Realistic setting. Sort of wondered why the author went with the name Davy as one of the MCs. It's seems like a name for a child. Author explains it at one point, but for some reason that bothered me. Now that pivotal scene when things between Kurt and Davy boil over - yeah I think I read that 6 or 7 times. Emotion overload! Books starts off slowly but as you read, it makes sense. How do you reconcile the person you thought you knew with who he was. How do you make sense of how you're feeling if that does not fit with what you think are the norms. Surprised by the ending and will definitely read books 2 and 3.
