I was shocked at what little understanding this author had of Mexican culture and society. I was even more shocked to find that she claims to have lived in Mexico. There are so many major and minor inaccuracies in the portrayal of these women and their lives. Yes, it's a work of fiction. But even the author claims it to be based on fact and interviews with real women. I think not.
