This book was so good. I am unfamiliar with Finnish mythology but I loved how Karina described everything in the underworld and how things, even the weather, are controlled by Death. It was such a fascinating take on the underworld, with rogue mages trying to steal things and all the fantastical creatures. The mermaids made me laugh, especially their appetites. The growing relationship between Death and Hanna was sweet in a dark way, but you sense Death's loneliness and his attraction to Hanna. This only made the cliffhanger ending frustrating leaving you eager for more.

This book is unique and worth your time to read and enjoy Halle's descriptions and the world she builds.
