This is cutesy, himbofied Philip K. Dick. Perhaps it was less quaint in its time, technology-wise. Sexualized fifteen-year-old girl as a central character, insufferable dialogue by someone who has seemingly never heard a woman speak, rampant racist and sexist stereotyping, inch-deep Catholic apologism. Claims that it was influential necessarily ignore that it owes everything to other, better sci-fi. Claims that it is satirical or parodic give it too much credit.
