I'm really not sure what I was expecting with this book. I know it's a classic, and it's my first Verne book. But what made it popular, I think, was its details of what was scientifically accurate for the 1860s. The first half is a detailed account of just getting to Snaefell and the peoples and cultures they meet along the way. That was surprising, but also lovely to read.
This book scratched my old-school adventure itch. It's very science-forward and honestly I love it lol.
