oh wow, what a way to end the Edens series. Mateo and Vera have taken a piece of my soul, they will stay with me forever.
I reached the end of this book and burst into tears. The Edens made me fall in love with Devney Perry’s writing and in turn also allowed me to find my favourite trope, small town romance. There are very few fictional families that embed themselves into my soul and these are one of them. As each book has been released I have fallen in love even further, and Mateo and Vera were no different.
These two are timeless, they quite literally are the other half of each other. I believe they would have met in any lifetime. They are perfect.
Vera, is sweet and shy, you understand why from the off after what she’s been through. But I loved that we saw how much she grew over the two years since she came back to reality. Seeing her build a relationship with The Edens and having them bring her into the family warmed me from the inside out.
Mateo is completely swoon worthy, but also blind as a bat to what’s in front of him. He is a single dad who is a bit lost at what he wants to do in life. But when his eyes are opened he doesn’t let anything stop him from claiming what’s always been his.
I adored his little girl Allie and the cute nicknames both him and Vera gave her. Also seeing them become this little family had me feeling so giddy, Vera’s relationship with the little girl made my heart burst.
I’m completely obsessed with these two, they had so much chemistry and tension. The secret pining had me holding my breath waiting for things to finally happen.
This was the perfect goodbye to the Edens family, I loved seeing the other couples from the previous books, but I also loved that it didn’t take away anything from Mateo and Vera. We got our goodbye but we also got one of the best couples!
