I wavered on whether to give this 3 or 4 stars; I liked more than I disliked but there’s just something that wasn’t clicking for me.

Now that I’ve had time to think about it, I realize it’s because the plot is VERY similar to Loreth Anne White’s In The Dark…which, I realize these types of ‘locked room’ thrillers are all pretty similar, but there are SO MANY similarities between these two books that it ends up as a solid 3 for me.

It’s tense. It’s suspenseful. It’s bloody and kind of gruesome in parts. If you’re not a fan of any type of body horror, I would probably steer clear of this one. BUT if you like tension-filled locked room mysteries with really unlikable characters (that’s by design in this case) you would probably do well with this.

Lots of red herrings and twists, and the reveal was equal parts surprising and you still had that “a-ha, that’s what I thought!” moment.

It’s medium-paced until about the last few chapters - then it feels like WOOOOSH the end was right there.
