Lear unable to truly step down from king - his pride remains in old age
Lear does not compromise on knights - sisters send him out and even try talking things out with Lear
Edmund misuses trust to turn Edgar against father
Edmund is belittled for being bastard even by dad who is guilty - that frustration builds
Edgar and Albany are not affected by Lear and so don’t see his dark side
