Hard Times by Charles Dickens
5.0
"Now, what I want is, Facts. Teach these boys and girls nothing but Facts. Facts alone are wanted in life. Plant nothing else, and root out everything else."
- "How could you give me life, and take from me all the inappreciable things that raise it from the state of conscious death? Where are the graces of my soul.? Where are the sentiments of my heart? What have you done, O father, what have you done, with the garden that should have bloomed once, in this great wilderness here?"
Hard Times, Charles Dickens

I loved the opening lines of this book and this second one is a quote from Louisa later, simply genius and goes well with the opening comments from her father. I really enjoyed the banter among the characters. But most importantly, I feel like many of the characters, Mr. Gradgrind and Louisa, came to recognize the importance of the human heart and not just the facts before the book concludes. -
