PS: I Hate You
by Lauren Connolly
Loveable characters:
No
Both of the main characters were kind of insufferable IMO. So I guess they’re made for each other?Maddie throws a fit every other chapter and doesn’t even consider the fact that maybe she’s got some stuff to work on until 75% of the way through the book. I appreciated that she did get help in the end, but then she still made Josh’s final letter all about herself. I think I could have gotten onboard with this book sooner if Maddie was a bit more self aware earlier in the book.
Plot wise, I liked the concept of the letters and trips to spread Josh’s ashes, but was EXTREMELY frustrated that the twist at the end was that a miscommunication didn’t just cause a decade of pain for 2 people, but FOUR. I’m begging these people just to fucking talk to each other 😭
I’m not a fan of the male love interest in books being a brooding/overprotective giant, but if you are into that, this might be for you? It reminded me a lot of Ali Hazelwood’s books, which are not for me personally, so probably why I did not like this one. However, if you DO like her books, you may like this book too.
