Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
1.0

As a masters student, I wrote a paper on trait-based stereotypes in the media about women in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). Unfortunately, this book is another example of media I could have included in my paper. While the talented heroine was beautiful and athletic, she was, of course, completely socially awkward. These kind of stereotypes have such a negative impact on females and what a disappointment to find another character strong in the science field who fits that kind of stereotype. Huge thumbs down from me.
