Safe to say I devoured this. In a day. Appreciate more contemporary wolf shifter romances entering the genre. In this world shifters are known and at odds with humans who want to control and legislate them while others are fascinated and intrigued.

This is book 2 in the series and begins Lena’s story. It does end in a cliffie but book 3 follows on its heals releasing a month behind.

Lena values her art, her research in wolf shifter reproductive health, and her independence. She is determined to make her mark in the world through hard work and not nepotism. A secret drives her to perfection in all things while also believing she can’t measure up. Her walls are an impenetrable fortress breached only by a select few.

Enter Finn, ex-enforcer for the Irish Mafia and her mate. He is charmed by the puzzle that is her and determined to break through her walls. The more he learns and she reveals, the more enchanted he becomes. He wants to protect her, possess her, while also giving her wings to be fully herself. But she isn’t going to make it easy for him. She values having a choice and he can push too far undoing progress he’s made. It’s two steps forward, one step back for them.

Outside forces continue to threaten the wolf shifter way of life and the Ardelean family while a particular threat to Lena is making itself known the closer Finn gets to her.

Beautifully written and edited. Please read the author note at the beginning of the book. Also note: there is a strong BDSM component to their relationship including but not limited to punishment and humiliation, spanking, edging, and sadism/masochism.
