The Shunned House by H.P. Lovecraft

4.0

At times, I was afraid that this story will be predictable and a cliché
Spoiler due to Lovecraft's first mention of a monster that isn't his creation, a vampire.
I felt like this defeated Lovecraft's entire anti-anthropomorphic way of creating horror and was fully expected to be disappointed, but fortunately, the story surprised me in a positive manner
Spoiler by revealing the fact that the story's vampire has nothing to do with what people associate with vampires.
Overall, it's a great story and I might even say that it's one of the most frightening ones Lovecraft has written.
