Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man by Mary L. Trump

4.0

I went into this book knowing that there could be hard feelings on the side of the author due to family drama but knowing her educational background was hopeful that it would be helpful in understanding the complexity of the “character” of the man who is currently in the White House. Oh how it did!! The family dynamics that he lived in helped to shape the fear of failure and inability to see them or admit wrongs. The divisiveness he seems to crave is normal to him as it is all he has ever known. There is no excuse for his behaviors but now I better understand (my thoughts were confirmed) that in many ways he is a product of a mentally unhealthy family dynamic in which he has continued the cycle with his children.
