The Autobiography of Malcolm X by Malcolm X

4.0

Malcolm X always seemed very distant to me as a historical figure. I never read or heard about him in school. When I did finally hear about him, it was always in a negative context. A radical. A nationalist. He was far from it.

From a young age, he was told that he should speak his mind. For a long time, he was silenced. In some instances, he chose to. He had a hard childhood that ran into his adulthood. During his imprisonment, he found the muslim faith. This led to a complete turn around in his life and is also what he became known for. Eventually, he found fault in his faith and discovered about the true Nation of Islam. He began to change the ideals that he preached. Many called him a hypocrite. He continued despite it.

Malcolm X was a fighter. He was someone that was constantly learning and willing to change his beliefs when he found fault in them. He was so much more than history makes him out to be. He was not the villain. He was human.
