This romantic fantasy was a nice breath of fresh air. As so many of these stories often begin with some kind of conflict, it can be a bit overwhelming (and jarring) to see a character fall out of one relationship and immediately into another as "resolution", especially for me, as a reader who has experienced trauma.

The author of this novel, Fiona Rowan, writes a thoughtful, well-worded explanation of the triggers at the beginning of the novel before diving into the story. Though the novel does deal quite a bit with those mentions of trauma it does not detract from the story but adds foundational support to the character growth that the FMC, Emily, experiences over the course of the book, and weaves a much more realistic approach to the journey of healing after a toxic relationship.

Overall the story is well-written, enjoyable, and I am so excited for the next installment in the series! Thank you, Fiona Rowan and team, for allowing me the chance to read the ARC, and congratulations on the launch!
