Loved the concept, but the writing style is very stereotypical YA; every emotion or reaction is ratcheted up a few notches too high, and nary an opportunity is missed to punch things up with an extraneous adjective or adverb. Despite obvious efforts to flesh her out, the MC feels oddly hollow in that 'insert self here' kind of way.
Graphic: Biphobia, Body horror, Child abuse, Hate crime, Homophobia, Blood, and Religious bigotry
Moderate: Confinement, Death, Torture, Violence, Forced institutionalization, Vomit, Medical content, Murder, Lesbophobia, and Gaslighting
