dnf’ing after trying on and off again for several weeks.

pros:
  • the characters are super cool
  • magic system seems interesting (so far)
  • the world building will 100% pay off

cons:
  • too many new characters and areas of the world, and even with the map i could not figure out what the fuck was going on
  • too many character povs without enough context. after fighting to get thru the brother’s and the general’s povs, i turned to chapter 10 and it said “rao” and i almost fucking CRIED. WHO IS RAO?! why should i care?! how are you gunna have priya and malini be the main characters but then every new pov introduces a new cast and crew of secondary and tertiary characters?! plz😭

i am committed to finishing this one day, but today is not that day.
