White Horses
by Alice Hoffman
White Horses by Alice Hoffman is a free NetGalley ebook that I read in early June.
Right away, there's a emergence into Hoffman's multi-sensory world with a migrant family living in New Mexico and California, and the life of Teresa, the focal daughter in this third-person narration, who's attracted to the illusive Silver (one of the 'arias,' a storied man who rides a white horse among the mesas and relies on women at the literal and metaphorical outskirts of society). However, with this emergence, it feels like the book goes into this family's activities full-bore without getting to know who they are or fully understanding what drives them.
