Watch Over Me by Nina LaCour

5.0

“Look how precious you were. How worthy of love you were. Look at your heart, intact. What a miracle it was. How steadily it beat for the people you loved.” - Nina LaCour, Watch Over Me

Let me just start by saying I loved every second of this book. It was beautiful and haunting and heartbreaking. Watch Over Me was about grief and healing, loneliness and ghosts, the pain of coming to terms with trauma. It was intense and atmospheric. And the writing is lovely and captivating and darkly enchanting. Reading this book, I felt so many things. My heart broke and was healed at the same time. Mila’s emotions are so beautifully written and keenly felt. And it was as if I was right there, laying on the grass, with her and Lee, listening to them tell fairy tales, and watching as ghosts danced across the field.

This book is one that is definitely not going to let me go any time soon. I cannot even think about reading another book right now. I am always going to hold this book in my heart.
