Adulthood Rites by Octavia E. Butler
slow-paced
- Plot- or character-driven? Character
4.0
I'm a big fan of Octavia E. Butlers writing and absolutely loved book one. As always, her writing style absolutely entranced me.
However, I didn't love this book as much as book one. It felt more like a bridge between books one and three instead of a work that could stand on its own. Additionally, we very much discussed the same issues and topics as in book one, just within a more character rather than an action driven setting. I personally didn't find that we learned a lot of new things that we didn't already get out of book one.
