Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare
4.0
adventurous emotional funny mysterious tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Loveable characters: Yes

I haven't read a Cassandra Clare book in quite a while but I really missed the Shadowhunter universe so I decided that it's finally time for me to read the Dark Artifices series. I was worried the book wouldn't live up to my expectations but it totally did. Not as good as the Infernal Devices series which I think will always be my favourite but I still really enjoyed this book and I can't wait to keep reading.

I wish there hadn't been such a long break between reading previous Shadowhunter books and this one because I can't fully remember events that are mentioned here and that I know happened in previous books. I'd probably have to reread them for that. Still I didn't feel like I was missing too much context and I loved all the cameos. We got to see Clary, Jace, Magnus and even Tessa, Jem and Church and that just makes me happy.

I think it's fair to say I've fallen back into the Shadowhunter universe and I can't wait to keep reading. The big twist in the end was not what I expected and I can't wait to see where the story goes next.
There are many questions still open that I hope will get answered soon: What is Diana's secret? Is Perfect Diego actually good, or too good to be true? What will happen with Kit now and what was his life up until now? Is Annabell actually back and what does she want? Is there a way for Emma and Julian to be together without bad side effects? Will they find a solution? Is anyone ever going to help Julian? (That boy has done so much more than could ever be expected from him and he gets so little praise for it) Is Mark really going to stay? And is Julian going to believe Emma and her ruse? And so many more...
