Alright, cue the sappy, cliched, romantic music montage... That pretty much sums up this book. But sometimes that is exactly what I am looking for in a book, and this one really fit the bill. It was pretty much what I expected from a new adult romance. And for the most part I really enjoyed it. It was just those occasional eye rolling moments that really kept me from getting too excited about this story. I don't mind a touch of cliche, though. And I really wanted to like this book more than I did, but the one thing that keeps me from bumping it from a 3.5 to a solid 4 is that it was at times really, really sexist. And that bothered me more than any of the cliches.
The story's saving grace for me, however, was the major topic of the book (which I will save for you to learn on your own, no spoilers here...) It is an interesting issue that I have not seen addressed in anything else I have read before. I thought that Scott approached it with a delicate and realistic hand, without crossing that line of making it gimmicky instead of honest. And I have a lot of respect for that.
