Maybe You Should Talk to Someone: A Therapist, Her Therapist, and Our Lives Revealed by Lori Gottlieb

5.0

I’ve never read a book like this. As someone who is fascinated not only by psychology and therapy, but about therapists themselves, this was an interesting and eye-opening read.

Told through her own insights and vignettes of her patients, Gottlieb tells a lot of lessons I’ve heard in my own therapy sessions and some I hadn’t even thought about.

The stories of her patients are heart-warming and genuine and she is so honestly herself. It took me so long to read because every few chapters, I will have read enough therapeutic insight that my heart and head are heavy. I have to look at the people in her life (and she herself) in their ugliest forms and see myself in them. I learned a lot about myself, took some of the conversations and thoughts she has into my own therapy and personal lives and I honestly think I’ve changed for the better.
