The Scarecrow by Beth Ferry

5.0

Animals know not to mess with Scarecrow or his field but it leaves him feeling lonely. But when an injured crow lands at Scarecrow’s feet, Scarecrow does something different and it leads to a big change for Scarecrow.

Despite my “I grew up in farming country” brain yelling “but this Scarecrow would be FIRED for doing what this story depicts,” I loved every page. The rhyming prose was beautiful, the story touching, and the artwork just remarkable. Autumn used to be my favorite season – before I acknowledged that summer, sand, and ocean breezes fuel my soul. The drawings in Scarecrow are perfect seasonal representations with autumn taking center stage. Add this one to your fall reads – or even that “lets love one another despite our differences” stack.
