Guards! Guards!
by Terry Pratchett
funny
lighthearted
relaxing
medium-paced
This is definitely my favourite discworld book so far, no doubt about it.
Pratchett's humour has always been top notch, with the classic dry humour you'd expect of a brit coming through into his writing perfectly, and never failing to make you laugh. This book takes that up another level, the comedy is to die for, and the characters are so lovable with such fun character voices you truly feel they're a group of bumbling idiots you would see in real life.
This book is set in Ankh-Morpok, the same as the unseen university which I have previously read, and we get some great cameos that make this book all the more enjoyable, with the best character in this book being one of them, the librarian.
This book follows our main character Carrot, a dwarf(?) who travels to the city in order to join the esteemed city watch and grow, only to find they're in complete disarray as the city has all but disbanded them, and he attempts to return law and order to this crime ridden city, charming his reluctant coworkers along the way.
I will be continuing the city watch subseries. If you're in need of something fun to read, I absolutely reccomend this as a starting point or even a standalone read.
