Glass Houses by Louise Penny

Clear your weekend.

I’m not kidding. You will want to keep turning pages, late into the evening (and early into the morning) as this story unfolds. Then, as you get to the big reveal, you’ll find yourself slowing down because you won’t want it to be over. You won’t want to leave these friends of yours in the village of Three Pines, your family of choice.

I don’t want to give any details of story or plot away, and you can read them elsewhere, if you wish. I just want to commend Ms. Penney for again blending contemporary issues with old world history and fable into a compelling story that intrigues my mind and touches my heart.

Be sure to read the Author’s Note (and be sure to do so after you’ve finished the book), as they, like in her previous book, will further impress with what an extraordinary human Ms. Penney is.
