This book had me clenching my jaw and screaming internally the entire time. YOU’RE TELLING ME ESTRELLA COULD'VE KILLED MAB FIFTY TIMES THROUGHOUT THIS BOOK?! And don’t even get me started on the mate bond STILL not being completed. Like, are we okay? Because I’m not.
Mab was obviously going to be a pain, but she wasn't even that powerful compared to what Estrella could do. All it would’ve taken was one good move—and yet our girl let herself be ruled over like some mindless pawn. And don’t get me started on that snake situation with Cal. GIRL. You can literally control snakes. Why did we not try to remove it?
And that ending? You mean to tell me she let Mab win again just by keeping secrets? Like if she had told her that she and Cal were soul-bound, Mab would’ve lost all her leverage. Hello??? Why are we still not communicating?!
At least we got some satisfaction with a few of the evil ones dying, but it still doesn’t make up for the countless dumb decisions. The torture Mab put my babies through? UNFORGIVABLE. Chopping Cal’s arms off? And then she kills her own brother—the one decent character on that side? That blood is on you, Estrella. That death did NOT have to happen.
Also, Estrella’s father stealing her power… sir, what?! We NEEDED that. Now he’s acting like he’s about to pull some wild move that’ll really set her off. As long as it ends with Mab's bloody downfall, I’ll forgive half of y’all. Maybe.
This book had me stressed, annoyed, and somehow still begging for more.
