Fruits Basket, Vol. 1 by Natsuki Takaya

2.0

This was the first manga series that I've read all the way through--mostly because the anime turned out to be dissatisfying, unlike the other series I've enjoyed (both shounen and shouju). It was quick and lighthearted, but I had a hard time giving in to the weirdness of it. There were many scenarios of romance despite large age gaps (always young woman/older man) that I just couldn't really get behind. That poisoned the rest of the series for me, a bit. But I read it all the way through, so that says something compelling about the characters at least.
